Major League
'Major League' formed in January 2009 when five guys from different bands and different musical backgrounds, by fate, came together. Guitarist Brian Joyce, bassist Eric Bouda and their singer were previously in a band together. When some of the other members of their band called it quits, they quickly began searching for a new project. In October of 2008 drummer Justin Unruh contacted Brian via email in search of starting a new band. Brian had previously met Justin a few months earlier when their bands played together. Brian and Eric decided to take a trip to Justin’s place (Delaware) to get moving on the project.
Soon after, the band picked up guitarist Matt Chila, a friend of Brian and Eric’s. The four began writing and booking shows. The band was offered a small east coast tour in early January of 09 which they agreed upon. Just weeks before the tour, the bands singer called it quits, leaving the four others high and dry. The band quickly picked up a friend of Justin’s but just days before the tour kick off, the singer fell ill and the four where in a panic. Brian and Justin put their minds together and decided to call singer/ front man Nickolas Trask. Brian had met Nick just days before at a show where Nick had been playing with his former band. Nick, on such short notice, agreed to do the tour. After the tour, loving the music and the members, Nick joined and thus Major League was formed.
After writing and recording their first song "Hometown Heroes" the band accepted an offer to go to an R&B, Hip Hop Music Conference held by Radio One Philadelphia in March of ‘09. Brian, Nick and Justin dressed for the occasion and came prepared with posters and cd's to hand out. While attending the conference the band walked into a room where Artist, President and Icon, Michael Bivins had been doing an interview.
The three forced themselves upon Michael, knowing who he was and his accomplishments as a Music Executive. Michael brought Nick in front of the entire room and instructed him to sing. Nick nervously belted out "Hometown Heroes". Michael took a poster and CD and thanked the band for their performance. Days later the band received a call from Michael who invited the group to perform for him in New York City. After their performance Michael saw something in the five that was very unique and Major League became the first rock group of Sporty Rich Enterprises.
